notes on a coupla songs:
in the song "
baby go" the lines "do yourself righteous," "get on with the mojo," and "get down with the flow" are my tribute to a clasic musical style i grew up with. i like the monks in the background. the "stripper" is about this girl i met once who had hung out with low-lifes and was now 360 away from it. to see her innocence, and at the same moment, imagine her past, made me want to protect her. but she was doing find without me anyway. "rhythm of the world" this is a favorite. it started off as just a riff, something i was singing to myself around the house. the melody over the b minor chord into the c chord has a leslie gore feel that's fun to sing.

there is always something exciting about suddenly coming upon an amusement park. the cowboys and hipsters prowling the grounds a sense of oz. like the rules out there in the real world don't apply here... like everyone knows exactly where they are. it's an honest place, too. it's only purpose is to thrill. by screwing around with gravity. last night... over the river i saw lights across the way... it was still. the sounds must have come on the breeze. i looked at you. i swore i heard it... the roller coaster and the tilt-a-whirl. i felt my heartbeat pick up slightly. i know you heard it, baby. it was there... it always is.

"I'm trying to find the courage to be tender in my life - I know that violent people are weak people. Only the gentle are ever really strong." -James Dean
